The Water Industry Training team consists of:

Annie Yeates - Water Industry Training Manager

Annie's origins lie in the British paper manufacturing industry. After many years of involvement in the water processes concerned with paper, Annie moved to a technical consultant role to various industrial wastewater treatment plants including dairies, tanneries and animal and food processing plants. Upon moving to New Zealand, Annie worked for WaterCare Services Ltd in Auckland for 18 months before moving to Wellington to commence work for Water Industry Training in May, 2004. Annie is based in Wellington. 

Martyn Simpson - Water Industry Training Adviser (South Island)

Martyn started with Water Industry Training in October 2008 after working as a Technical Drinking Water Assessor in Dunedin for six months. During this period he completed the National Diploma of Drinking Water (Drinking Water Assessment strand). Before that Martyn gained 31 years experience in water treatment with the Dunedin City Council, starting as a water treatment operator and finishing as a Senior Water Treatment Process Technician. He worked his way through the "C B & A" water treatment qualifications and completed the National Diploma of Drinking Water (Water Treatment strand) in 2005. He gathered valuable overseas experience in 1997 by investigating new water treatment processes in the UK, Scotland and Norway. Martyn is also the current Chair/President of the Water Industry Operations Group NZ (WIOG). Martyn is based in Dunedin.

Nigel Hesford - Water Industry Training Adviser (Upper North Island)

Nigel has been in the Water and Wastewater industry for over 20 years. He joined Water Industry Training in August 2009 after working as a Senior Training Consultant for Opus Consultants, Environmental Training Center. During his time at Opus Nigel was a tutor in Water and Wastewater Reticulation and Water and Wastewater Treatment. He was also involved in the Ministry of Health TAP/CAP program as a technical adviser for the Waikato area. Prior to this he was the operations manager at DuffillWatts & King Ltd (Tauranga). During his time in the industry Nigel worked through the old "C" grade certificates in both Water and Wastewater Treatment, he then gained the "B" grade certificates in both disciplines. In 2006 he completed the upgrade to the Diploma in Drinking Water, in 2007 he upgraded to the National Diploma in Wastewater and in 2007 Nigel studied toward and gained the National Diploma in Drinking Water Assessment. Nigel is presently on the committee of the Water Industry Operators Group (WIOG). Nigel is based in Tauranga.

Rebecca Fox – Water Industry Training Adviser (Lower North Island)

Rebecca joined the team at the end of April 2010. Rebecca was one of the first graduates in the National Diploma in Water Treatment – Drinking Water Assessment. She brings to the role over 15 years’ experience working in public health in Palmerston North, Hawke’s Bay, Queenstown Lakes, Central Otago and Greater Wellington. Her main focus has been environmental health, drinking water standards, resource consents and health impacts around water or wastewater discharges and hazardous substance control. Rebecca is based in Greytown.

Marzanne Krogmann – Water Industry Customer Relationship Adviser

Prior to joining the team in May 2010 Marzanne worked as team leader for a financial training company in Wellington. She is very familiar with managing courses, processing results and working with trainees and governing bodies. Marzanne emigrated from South Africa in 2008 to join her family here. She studied International Relations at university and is currently completing a national qualification in adult education. Marzanne is based in Wellington.
