How to get started

To train through Water Industry Training, you need to be employed in the water industry.

Our training has three key ingredients that help you succeed:

Work out what you want to learn and why:

Set yourself goals
Learn the right skills – your training adviser can help you decide the right qualification for you
Attend off job classes and learn the ‘why’ behind the practical ‘how’
Use your learning on the job – this is the most important part!

Your boss

Your employer or supervisor will be the one training you on a daily basis.

They’ll make sure you’re learning the skills and knowledge you need to get the job done right – every time.

They’ll also help you practise the skills you learn in off job class time.

Your training adviser

Your training adviser will work with you and your employer to sort out your training needs.

They’ll visit you to track your progress, answer any questions you might have and support you throughout your training.
