2010 Training Schedule
The following is the Water Industry Training schedule for 2010. Please note that some course schedules may be subject to change.

Note: All courses comprise an off-job (theory) component as well as an on-job (practical) component. The following are schedules for the off-job (theory) block courses only.

1.  National Certificate in Reticulation (Service Person), Level 3
Five blocks of training of 2-3 days each.

2. National Certificate in Reticulation (Supervisor), Level 4
This course is ideal for reticulation supervisors or those aspiring to that position (regardless of whether they have completed the Level 3 qualification)

3.  National Certificate Water Treatment (Site Operator) 2010
Two, two week block courses.  Venue: Opus Environmental Training Centre, Lower Hutt
- 1st Stream: Block 1: 15 - 26 March 2010  Block 2: 19 - 30 July 2010
- 2nd Stream: Block 1: 14 - 25 June 2010   Block 2: 11 - 22 October 2010
 
4.  National Certificate Wastewater Treatment (Site Operator) 2010
Two, two week block courses. Venue: Opus Environmental Training Centre, Lower Hutt
- Block 1: 17 - 28 May 2010   Block 2: 16 - 27 August 2010
 
5.  National Diploma Drinking Water - Water Treatment (Site Technician) 2010
Two, two week block courses. Venue: Opus Environmental Training Centre, Lower Hutt
- Block 1: 26 April 2010 - 7 May 2010      Block 2: 6 - 17 September 2010

6.  National Diploma Wastewater Treatment (Site Technician) 2010
- Block 2 from 2009: 15 - 26 February 2010   Venue: Opus Environmental Training Centre, Lower Hutt

7.  National Diploma Drinking Water - Drinking Water Assessment strand
- Block 1: 26 April 2010 - 7 May 2010       Block 2: 6 - 17 September 2010       Block 3: 29 November 2010 - 3 December 2010

This course is designed for Health Protection Officers who intend training to work as Drinking Water Assessors, and for other Water Treatment technical experts who intend on working as Technical DWAs, both of whom are officials with designated authorities under the The Health (Drinking Water) Amendment Act 2007.  Elements of this course are ideally suited to Water Treatment technicians or Graduate or Asset Management engineers from all levels.  The first 2 blocks of DWA training will be held together with "water treatment" strand trainees.

Unit Standards comprising the National Diploma in Drinking Water - Assessment strand are available separately for Engineers or Asset Managers who seek to up-skill on specific aspects of the course - i.e. PHRMP assessment or interpretation, Drinking Water legislation, Reticulation system management, MoH legal powers, etc etc.
 
The course will be delivered by Opus Environmental Training Centre, at their facility in Gracefield, Lower Hutt. To sign on for training, intending candidates for training should submit a completed training agreement (available on request from Water Industry Training on 0800 928 374).

8. Short courses
Various short courses are being offered this year for Unit Standards which form part of our NZQA qualifications:
- Confined Space Entry (Unit Standards 18426 & 19207)
- Pipe Inspection by CCTV (Unit Standard 22107)
- Process Control (Unit Standard 18455 or 19187)
- Sampling (Unit Standards 17878 and/or 17879)
- Dry weather sewerage overflow incident management (Unit Standard 22111)
